James Tenney (1934-2006), was an American composer and music theorist. He made significant musical contributions to plunderphonics, sound synthesis, algorithmic composition, process music, spectral music, microtonal music and tuning systems including extended just intonation. Photographed on one of his visits to Dartington College of Arts. On his right is Ciarán Maher the Irish composer and installation artist who was a student at Dartington at that time.
