Minna Keal, née Mina Nerenstein (1909-1999) was a British composer born in the East End of London in 1909. After early compositions as a student at the Royal Academy of Music, she only returned to composing towards the end of her life observing that, "I felt I was coming to the end of my life, but now I feel as if I'm just beginning. I feel as if I'm living my life in reverse." She was 80 years old by the time her first orchestral work was performed at the BBC Proms in 1989. Photographed at Dartington Summer School of Music.
