Keith Tippett (1947-2020) was a British jazz pianist and composer. His career spanned jazz-rock, progressive rock, improvised and contemporary music as well as modern jazz. He was known for his unique approach to improvisation. For many years he ran a very popular Jazz Course at Dartington Summer School of Music where his students were encouraged to improvise.
